This overnight camp is suitable for co-ed teens age 12-17* who are avid indoor gym climbers and seek opportunities to advance their outdoor climbing skills.

Our typical camper is an avid indoor climber who participates on their local climbing team at the recreation or competitive level. They are psyched on climbing and want to immerse themselves in a week (or two) of outdoor climbing at the world-renowned Eastern Sierra locations.

We'll lay a solid foundation of climbing skills with an emphasis on safety and best practices. Campers will learn to advance their climbing technique, knowledge of gear and equipment, the importance of ethics, teamwork, problem-solving, and trust.

Our campers learn the following: -outdoor lead climbing -anchor setup and cleaning -introduction to trad gear placement -crack climbing technique -stick clipping -projecting skills -resting strategy and conserving energy -rappelling best practices

Campers spend the week camping out under the stars at French Camp in Rock Creek with access to the creek, flushing toilets, and running water. They will pitch their tents at our base camp, and then launch out to a new climbing area every day. The evenings are spent sharing climbing stories around a campfire with s'mores.

Return and experienced campers ages 16-17 are encouraged to participate in a Junior Counselor position. They will have the added responsibility of mentoring the younger campers and helping with facilitating the group experience throughout the week. Please inquire if you are interested in this option.

OUR STAFF: Our guides are Wilderness First Responders and are certified at a minimum as Single Pitch Instructors with the American Mountain Guide Association, although many have further AMGA training. They are excellent teachers, mentors, and role models, who lead by example with integrity and respect. And, its kids camp…so, they like to have FUN!

OUR PROGRAM: This 6-day overnight camp is geared towards giving teens the opportunity to climb outdoors and apply their previous indoor climbing experience to an outdoor setting. Each day we'll go to a new, world-class climbing area around the Eastern Sierra.

We maintain a low camper-to-guide ratio of 4 to 1 to maximize experiential learning time on the rock. We keep the group size small with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 campers per session. This ensures that each Camper will receive individualized instruction that will help challenge their climbing ability and expand their knowledge of outdoor climbing in an appropriate manner.
